THE DISCREPANCY // 129
Linus waits in the pumpkin patch for a visitor the others do not believe in. Something finally rises, and the instant seems ready to reward him. An early Mandela Effect collection records memories of the Great Pumpkin appearing. In the referenced 1966 special, that figure is Snoopy, and the promised arrival remains out of reach.
STOP AT THE RUSTLING LEAVES
What do you remember seeing above the pumpkins: a round head, a shadow or Snoopy’s outline? Some memories stop before the figure is identified. Others include an actual visit. Try to separate the moment of expectation from the reveal that follows it. Is your image a complete scene or one instant held longer than it lasted?
WHICH HALLOWEEN DID YOU WATCH?
This file follows It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, the 1966 television special. The official Peanuts page places Linus in that familiar wait; the plot reference identifies the rising figure as Snoopy. Later spoofs, merchandise and other Halloween cartoons belong to their own versions. An image of a pumpkin visitor needs its programme and year attached.
THE ARRIVAL THAT WOULD CHANGE THE NIGHT
Imagine the scene continuing exactly as you expected: the visitor is real, and Linus finally has someone else there to see it. Would that be the ending you remember, or the ending you always wanted him to receive? Keep the difference open while you look for an old recording. The most intriguing clue may be what happens immediately after the figure rises.
