TWO BUTTONS

Red shorts, white buttons. What holds them up in the version you remember?

THE DISCREPANCY // 028

The reported alteration adds suspenders to Mickey’s familiar red-shorts design. The standard reference outfit has the buttons without those shoulder straps. This file concerns that familiar costume, not every outfit Mickey has worn in every production.

A tiny sailor’s whistle is drawn beside the buttons. The first costume is watching.

FOLLOW THE LINES UPWARD

Draw the buttons first, then continue any lines you remember above them. Do they cross the chest or attach at the shoulders? The difference is about construction: buttons can suggest straps even when the outline does not supply them. Keep your original drawing before checking a character image.

CHOOSE A PARTICULAR OUTFIT

Mickey appears in many costumes. The official animation material is a route to identifiable versions, so record which one you compared. A different outfit containing straps would not answer the red-shorts question by itself. Which childhood illustration or toy makes the remembered pair feel most certain?

Keep your first version

Record the detail before opening a reference. Keep the exact object, release or edition with your comparison. A first recollection and a later discovery can be followed as separate traces.
