THE STROKE
YOU NEVER NOTICED

Draw the first letter inside the oval. Do not finish the rest until you have drawn its upper stroke.

THE DISCREPANCY // 027

Some observers remember Ford’s script without the small curl in the F. The familiar reference emblem includes it. The reported mismatch concerns a stroke inside the word, rather than the oval, the paint or the vehicle carrying the badge.

DRAW THE STROKE IN ISOLATION

A logo on a steering wheel can become so familiar that you stop inspecting it. Sketch the F on its own. Where does the line begin, and where does it turn back? Then recall the badge you had in mind: a particular vehicle, an advert or an object in your family.

A LOGO HAS A GENERATION

Ford’s emblem has a design history; do not treat every early mark as the same script badge. Keep the model, year and uncropped image with a comparison. Some people also describe the curl as a return after an earlier check. That is a reported sequence, not a dated change history established by this file.

Keep your first version

Record the detail before opening a reference. Keep the exact object, release or edition with your comparison. A first recollection and a later discovery can be followed as separate traces.
